Step-By-Step Process to Getting Veneers

  1. Share Your Goals With Your Boger Dentist

The first step is to come into our office and talk to your dentist about veneers. Our doctors have tons of cosmetic dentistry experience and can recommend which type of veneer would be a great fit for your smile based on your unique needs and dental patterns. Veneers are not a one-size-fits-all treatment, so your doctor will likely need to take some scans of your mouth to determine the right treatment for you.

  1. Preview Your Veneers

Thankfully when it comes to permanently changing your smile with veneers, you can be fully prepared before you take the plunge! Our team can either create an exact model of your mouth showing off the exact shape and fit of your veneers. This can help you get the visual impression of what your smile will look like with them on! Another option is sometimes our doctors are able to create false veneers that they can temporarily fit over your teeth so that you can see your future smile on your own face!  From the scans obtained  of your mouth, our team can create your preferred look and have that available to look at and tweak as desired.  Then we are able to use that wax up to temporarily apply material and simulate  what the veneers will look like in your mouth.  l

Once you’ve previewed and approved your veneers, then we will get busy preparing your veneers and getting them ready to go on your teeth! This is done when our doctors send your final veneer shape to a dental laboratory where technicians will create your veneers out of whichever substance you and your doctor have decided is healthiest for your smile. This can sometimes be resin, porcelain, composite, and more.

  1. Prepare Your Teeth

Once your teeth arrive back from the lab, your doctor will bring you in for the big moment–(We prepare the teeth and then send to the lab.  preparing your teeth to have your veneers placed on!  Depending on your tooth position, veneers require removing some of the surface of your teeth. Your doctor will always do this as sparingly as they possibly can

The amount of your natural teeth that are removed in preparation for your veneers to go on, will depend entirely upon the shape, size, and health of your current teeth. Your veneers need to fit smoothly, allowing your smile to look completely natural once the veneers are in. You can trust that our doctors here at Bogar Dental are experts and prepping your teeth for their updated smile.

Experience Your New Smile!

Finally, once your veneers and your teeth have been prepared, it’s time for the veneers to go on! Your doctor will o bond your veneers to your teeth, essentially making them one unit, and securing them . Most veneers last at least up to 20 years before they need to be replaced, but this will depend upon  Several factors including tooth positon, your bite, and the material used.

Now that your veneers have enhanced your smile, you’re ready to enjoy life with your stunning new veneers! Congratulations!

Are Veneers a Good Fit For You?

As much as we love seeing our patients with new gorgeous smiles with veneers, they aren’t for everyone. Here are a few factors to consider when thinking about if veneers are a good fit for you:

Consider Hygiene and Tooth Decay

If one of the reasons you are wanting veneers is to avoid taking better care of your teeth then we are sorry to tell you that veneers are not an easy out. It’s important for your teeth to be really clean and healthy before attempting to put on veneers, which means both having  a cleaning at the dentist and taking care of tooth decay or gum disease before the veneers go in. A beautiful smile needs to have a healthy foundation, so don’t skip this work!

Finances and Other Appearance Issues

The truth is that veneers are a financial investment, so you need to be prepared to pay for them. If finances are a concern, we try to work with patients to achieve their dental goals.  To ensure veneers are a possibility for some people, other treatment may be recommended in addition to just veneers.  This might mean orthodontics to create a straighter smile, or teeth whitening treatments to improve the brilliance! Talk to your Boger dentist to learn your options and prices.
